What a whirlwind 2025 has been! Honestly, it’s been wild. Busy. Emotional. Heartbreaking at times, heartwarming at others. And through it all, Wings and Paws Rescue has kept doing what we do best: stepping in when animals have nowhere else to turn ❤️
This year the demand for rescue spaces didn’t ease up for even a moment. Not once. Calls came in daily, foster homes filled up faster than a pup spotting an unattended sandwich, and the costs just kept climbing. Yet somehow, with grit, graft, and an army of brilliant volunteers, we pushed on.
More than 100 animals found safety with us this year. Dogs, cats, ponies and wildlife. Each one arrived with their own story, and every single one left a mark on us.
One of the toughest cases: tiny Devon. A baby pup suffering from a shocking case of The Strangles. His skin was raw, his little face swollen, and he was in awful pain. We rushed him straight to the vet, wrapped him in love and proper care, and watched him fight. And fight he did! Today he’s healed, adored, and living the kind of life he always deserved 🐶✨

Then Easter arrived, never a quiet one for us is Easter Sunday and this year brought with it one of the most dramatic rescue missions we’ve ever taken on. Four ponies and a foal, all neglected and in desperate need of help. A late-night scramble for transport, an 11pm horsebox miracle, an early morning dash to Leicester, and a surprise visit from the RSPCA. By the end of the thirty hour saga, all five horses were home safe, and just a few weeks later one of the mares gifted us another tiny foal. Two babies....... Because of course.
And then came our Funday... Honestly, what a day! Our 5th annual Funday, hosted this year at the gorgeous Bradshaws Doggy Paddocks, turned out to be our most successful one to date. The sun was out, the dogs were living their best lives, and the humans weren’t far behind. It was the kind of wholesome chaos we thrive on.
Families filled the paddocks, dogs bounced about in pure joy, and every stall had a buzz around it. By the end of the day we’d raised an incredible £4,261.50 for the animals in our care. A proper pinch me moment! 🥹🎉

It wasn’t just about the fundraising either. It brought the whole community together. Supporters old and new, adopters popping by with their happy ever afters, and plenty of curious passers-by who left as new fans of the rescue. You could feel the love in the air... along with the smell of hot doughnuts, but mainly the love.
We absolutely can’t wait for our 2026 Funday. Bigger. Better. And quite possibly louder. Bring it on! 🐾💛
All of this, every rescue, every victory, every new beginning, is only possible because of our supporters. The shop volunteers, the foster families, the donators, the sharers, the cheerleaders. You keep us going. Truly 🧡
Here’s to 2026. More rescues. More healed hearts. More happily ever afters. And hopefully slightly fewer frantic midnight dashes... but we’ll see 😉
